Naroda Patiya Judgment: Loss of humanity

Neither victory of riot victim nor defeat of convicts rather loss of humanity.

Verdict in Naroda patiya case  has come, 32 convicted, 29 acquitted . I am sure both, accused as well as government will appeal this order. Government will challenge acquittal whereas convict will challenge their conviction but my concern is not the case rather loss of humanity. Many secularist claiming it victory but it gave me pain. How punishment of murder accused can be categorized victory or defeat.  97 people lost life in that massacre, their families still have not and will not over come from trauma. Family of convict will also suffer; they are the silent victim of such hatred act. I read, people justify this massacre on the ground of godhra train burning act. Can anyone say, those killed in Naroda Patiya were involved in Godhra incidence and whether women or kids had participated in Godhra train charring act. Because of their Muslim orientation, they killed. It was their single guilt. After delivery of judgment, I was numb & dumb. Last night, I did not sleep and spent the night on reading two books. Early at 6.30 am, I went on bed, awakened at 11 by wife to get afresh. Time machine of memory landed me in riot period.  We witnessed Frenzy mob, rhetoric exhibition of hatred, cry of grieved family. Blood spilled on street and wall, scattered death bodies of innocent people. Many lost whole family, lifelong trauma for few unfortunate people who survived. Kids not even able to say mummy and papa properly could not understand why uncles are killing them. Most perturbing was deliberate inactiveness of state machinery to contain damage. Can we declare ourselves human being or member of a civilized society? At least I cannot. What will happen after their conviction, will family member, though lesser, not go through the similar pain and trauma that of victim of Naroda patiya? What they will say to their kids and console them after this conviction? Are they in position to ask their kids to follow their path? Many people including some of my face book friends, projects Narendra modi as PM on his development plan and prosperity of Gujarat. At this juncture I am not going to dispute it, but can a person who being head of state machinery  failed to check massacre and vandalism, reluctant to take moral responsibility, be accepted to represent India, a country with glorying  past  and bestowed  with rich heritage and culture of tolerance . As per official records above 1200 people were killed the Gujarat riot, approximately 950 Muslim and remaining Hindu. If timely stern action would have been taken, it was possible to save at least 90 percent of them . Whom my BJP friends will blame for killing of Hindu? Whether Failure of state machinery or Muslim?  Hindu victim of riot have questioned the role of state machinery for inactiveness.  I re assert, this is neither victory of riot victim nor defeat of convicts rather loss of humanity. We cannot Rewind the time but resolve not to spread hatred.
